Fiery Flamenco coming to DUPAC


Join us for a heart-pounding evening of breathtaking Spanish dance featuring Flamenco, classical and contemporary works accompanied by exceptional live music. Hailed for their "grand theatricality, precision-tooled technique and flamenco-based fire" Ensemble Español is the premier Spanish dance company in the U.S. and not to be missed!


Dominican University Performing Arts Center | 7900 West Division Street, River Forest, IL 60305 Program highlights include the critically acclaimed “Danza del Fuego” (Dance of the Fire) (1979) choreographed by the Ensemble’s founder, Dame Libby Komaiko, to the music of Ruiz de Luna in the Neo-Classical (Flamenco and Classical) styles; the Flamenco full company work “No Me Olvides” (Do Not Forget Me) (2008) by artistic director, Irma Suarez Ruiz; and “Ritmo de la Tierra” (Rhythm of the Earth) choreographed by Nino de los Reyes, the first dancer ever to win a Grammy award.

Musical guest artists performing in the program include Flamenco singer/guitarist Paco Fonta (Jaen/Miami); singer, guitarist, and percussionist José Moreno (Madrid, Malaga, New York); Flamenco guitarist David Chiriboga (Ecuador/Chicago); classical guitarist Brian Torosian (Chicago) and tenor Luis Galvez (Peru).
